Conference Day Rolls

Conference Day RollsSunday mornings for General Conference, my mother would prepare our special rolls, a recipe she got from Pillsbury. We only got to eat them twice a year. April General Conference Sunday. October General Conference Sunday. No amount of begging would induce my mother to make those rolls during any other time of year. The conference roll tradition has moved down a generation. My siblings and I each make the rolls for our children.

Conference Rolls:

  • 3 oz cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 T honey
  • 8 oz can of crescent rolls

Glaze:

  • 1/2 c powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. margarine or butter
  • 1 T lemon juice

In a small bowl, combine first four ingredients until smooth. Soften cream cheese first! Separate rolls into two large rectangles and firmly press perforations to seal.

(Now, you can find crescent rolls in a large rectangle form so that you don’t have to press together the perforations.)

Spread with cream cheese mixture. Start at the longer side, roll up; press edges to seal.

Cut into slices, about one inch apart. Bake on a greased cookie sheet for 15 to 20 minutes at 350 degrees or until golden brown.

In small bowl, combine glaze ingredients; spread over warm rolls. (Or drizzle.)

Refrigerate any leftovers.
